Five colours and more than thirty-five years of Animal Cannibals history

There is another good reason to dust off the record player, because Animal Cannibals are continuing to collect their greatest hits on vinyl. Best of… vol. 3 will not be just another compilation album, but a true snapshot of the more than thirty-five years that Qka MC and Ricsipí have put into Hungarian rap. The release arrives from June 19, and all five colour variants will be available in the MG Records webshop. That is already great news for fans, but it is especially exciting for collectors that only 100 copies have been made of each colour. So anyone who wants to have this special Animal Cannibals vinyl release on their shelf should place their reservation in time.

The coloured vinyl is not just a visual extra, but something that fits perfectly with the way Animal Cannibals approached this release. According to the duo, they have been passionate collectors since childhood, and they have something at home on almost every type of physical format, so their love for tangible music is not for show, but a long-standing passion. They also spoke with several record collectors, who agreed that very few artists in Hungary take the risk of releasing coloured records, which is why they decided to launch five different versions at once. They wanted to create a vinyl record that they themselves would gladly place on a shelf, not just listen to once or twice. The best part is that everyone can choose the most special version for themselves, while holding the same Animal Cannibals feeling in their hands.

When selecting the songs for Best of… vol. 3, the question was not only which tracks were fan favourites, but also which ones would work well on vinyl. Vinyl has always had a strong connection to hip-hop, so the release will feature true rap tracks through and through. The songs received a vinyl master, giving special attention to how they sound in this format. The compilation will also include remixes that, according to the band, became more successful than their original versions. This makes the record feel not only like a nostalgic look back, but like a release truly created for the experience of listening to vinyl.

Animal Cannibals have always known how to connect their music with a strong visual identity, and this release is no exception. The cover was once again created by Brunszkó László, also known as Nikon One, who has already worked with the rappers many times before. This matters because, with a limited vinyl release like this, the visual side is just as much a part of the experience as the music itself. The coloured record, the collector’s character and the well-crafted cover together make this release something that truly belongs on a shelf. It is no coincidence that the band talks about it as something you can listen to, hold, smell, or even use as decoration.

What to keep in mind when placing your reservation
  • The Animal Cannibals Best of… vol. 3 vinyl release arrives from June 19.
  • All five colour variants will be available in the MG Records webshop.
  • Only 100 copies have been made of each colour.
  • There will be a signing opportunity on June 14 at Lemezpiac in the ELTE Gömb Aula.
  • You can also meet the duo in person on June 18 at the MG Records event.

Behind the release, there is not simply the idea of another best of album, but the intention to give listeners something truly tangible. Animal Cannibals described it as a record of their work, something they are not making for the sake of earning money, but to meet the needs of their audience. That idea fits perfectly with the current vinyl renaissance, as more and more people are looking again for the kind of experience that streaming alone cannot provide. You take a vinyl record out, put it on, listen to it from beginning to end, and build a completely different connection with the music. If that music also carries several decades of Animal Cannibals history, then it becomes more than something to listen to: it becomes a memory, an object and a mood all at once.

The signing events make the release even more personal, as there will be two chances to meet Qka MC and Ricsipí. On June 14 at Lemezpiac in the ELTE Gömb Aula, and on June 18 at the MG Records event, they will officially welcome their newest compilation. Anyone who would like to add a signed copy to their collection should pay special attention to these dates. Because of the limited number of copies, however, it is not worth putting off the decision for too long, especially if one of the colour variants already feels like the one for you. By placing your reservation on the MG Records site, you can make sure that Best of… vol. 3 really does move into your living room.
